Science Café E-addiction: is your cell phone a drug?
Addiction to technology is a growing issue as it infiltrates every point of our lives. We now play
hyper-realistic video games, we invest and foster our relationships through social media, and we
are expected to be in touch through mobile devices at all times. But when using technology
becomes compulsive and interferes with daily life, can we diagnose this as an addiction? Eaddiction,
like other addictions can cause neurological complications, psychological
disturbances, and social problems. How is technology designed to promote prolonged
engagement? How does our brain react to technology? Is e-addiction a symptom of other
disorders such as anxiety or depression? How do we treat this new and evolving disorder?

The Greatest Showman
Coming Soon
“The Greatest Showman” is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business
and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and
imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose
from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The
Greatest Showman” is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by
Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy
Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Zac Efron, Academy Award nominee
Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
The Incredibles 2
Coming September 7
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen is in
the spotlight, leaving Bob at home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of
“normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still
unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and
dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again—which is easier
said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
Backyard Wilderness
Coming September 5
Follow Katie, a young girl, and her modern family living next to the woods who are blind to the
real-life spectacle around them, absorbed by an array of electronic devices in their busy lives.
Katie gradually discovers the intricate secrets that nature has hidden so close to her front door
and we experience the joy she finds in her interactions with this new world. The film reminds us
that Wi-Fi is not the only connection that matters and that sometimes in ordinary places, you can
uncover extraordinary things that can transform you forever – you just need to step outside.
Galapagos 3D
Now Playing
An amazingly immersive cinematic experience, Galapagos delves deep into the largely unknown
waters surrounding the volcanic archipelago to explore the natural wonders of a realm that is
truly a living natural science laboratory.
