Canadian Automotive Museum
The Canadian Automotive Museum opened in 1963 as a community project to preserve and display the Canada’s automotive experience.
The museum is home to the world’s most significant collection of Canadian-built and Canadian-owned automobiles, including both rare and early models—such as the Kennedy, Bricklin, Manic, Tudhope, McLaughlin-Buick, and McKay. In addition movie star cars like Lightning McQueen and Herbie the Love Bug are on display.
The museum opened in Oshawa—Canada’s “Motor City” – in a building rich in automotive history. From 1921 to 1931 it was the home of the Ontario Motor Sales dealership and service centre. The site now houses a collection of more than 80 donated vehicles and the Baechler Canadian Automotive Research Library.
The museum is open to the public year-round. Special events include month online talks, kids’ activity days, and guided tours of downtown Oshawa. Groups are welcome and guided tours of the museum are available.
