Located just outside the Greater Golden Horseshoe, Six Nations Tourism, a proud department of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC), is a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the most populated First Nation in Canada. Six Nations Tourism is dedicated to educating visitors, marketing and promoting small businesses, events, sites, and promoting attractions in order to vitalize economic growth throughout Six Nations of the Grand River.

Under the direction of Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) since 2015, the 1995 established Six Nations Tourism manages two historical sites, a park and convention centre within our community and is a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the most populated First Nation in Canada. Six Nations Tourism is dedicated to educating visitors, marketing and promoting small businesses, events, sites and attractions in order to vitalize economic growth throughout Six Nations of the Grand River.

Geographically located just outside the Greater Golden Horseshoe, in close proximity to major markets in Ontario with easy access to the 400 series highways, close to the USA border and major airports in Toronto and Hamilton. We are situated on the Grand River – a Canadian Heritage River which is synonymous with the rich history of the Six Nations and located within one of the last remaining Carolinian forests.

Six Nations Tourism Sites

Chiefswood Park:

Currently being rejuvenated, Chiefswood Park is a heritage park that will have 15 log cabins with the ability to house 1-8 guests depending on the size of the cabin. Each cabin will include a covered porch, private bathroom, master bedroom, living space, kitchenette and loft area. Chiefswood Park also offers canoeing and kayaking programs and rentals.

Chiefswood National Historic:

Built in 1853-1856 by Mohawk Chief, George Johnson, for his English bridge, Emily Howells, Chiefswood National Historic Site is the birth place and childhood home of famous poetess E. Pauline Johnson. The home tells the story of the Johnson family and about a place where cultures meet.

Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks:

Built in 1785, Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks is the oldest surviving church in Ontario featuring eight stained glass windows that tell the history of the Six Nations and the Chapel.
