Harbourfront Centre brings storytelling to life with its new Visual Arts Fall Exhibitions, September 24 – December 22

Harbourfront Centre proudly presents five exhibitions under the thematic title, Stories We Tell – featuring works in a variety of media including photography, graphic novels, video and craft. The fall lineup has a diverse set of artists presenting distinct visual narratives, weaving tales with every stroke, mold and colour.

Exhibitions include:

• Five Ways – Curated by acclaimed Canadian cartoonist Seth, this exhibition spotlights five diverse contemporary cartoonists and their unique approach to graphic novels as mediums of artistic expression.
• Funnies – Zines, drawings, installations and videos are on display in this exhibition by eight emerging comic and graphic novelists.
• stepside – Christopher Boyne tells the story of a half-ton truck, lyme disease and heartbreak in this large installation.
• Object Diaries – Artists Jing Huang and Sam Pedicelli construct distinct narrative works that offer insight into their personal understandings of the world, including their views on time, distance, place and moments of curiosity.
• Aberrant Tales – Lindsay Montgomery’s thought-provoking ceramic works tell cautionary tales and offer cultural critiques.

“Every artist has a story that is uniquely their own,” says Marah Braye, CEO of Harbourfront Centre. “These exhibitions are the physical manifestations of a life lived, an experience had and an emotion felt. People often find themselves reflected in an artist’s work, and that is what makes exhibitions like these extraordinary and necessary. It is always an honour to present these exhibitions each year.”

Stories We Tell helps celebrate the 37^th International Festival of Authors and Nuit Blanche at Harbourfront Centre. The fall exhibitions officially kick off with an opening party on September 23 from 6–10pm. The exhibitions are free to attend.
