Capture the Moment

Visit Dundurn Castle and The Hamilton Military Museum this March Break and ‘strike a pose’. In our activity area children are invited to make their own costume pieces, dress up and take pictures in front of recreated backdrops of Dundurn from the 1840s to 1960s. On your guided tour of Dundurn, costumed staff will invite you into some of Sir Allan MacNab’s rooms for a photo op. At The Hamilton Military Museum dress up like an 1812 solider and have your picture taken in front of a British encampment or ‘camp out’ in the hands-on discovery gallery

Historical Scavenger Hunt

Bring the whole family to participate in a fun scavenger hunt of historical Ancaster locations, explore the exhibit and wander the beautiful grounds. Exciting prizes to be won!

Ontario Archaeological Society Monthly Lectures

Join the OAS Hamilton Chapter at its monthly meetings and lectures at Fieldcote, held on the third Thursday of every month. A lecture or film is presented, with coffee and snacks.

Farmer’s Breakfast

Visit our galleries to discover the uses of the “mountain” and the Hamilton Harbour in building our city of Hamilton.

March Break: Unplugged

Do away with screens, blinking lights, and dead batteries. Drop-in and try some low-tech games and activities – including a giant chess board, train puzzles, and matching games. Try your hand at origami, build a house of cards, and make your own puzzle to take home.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ANTHROPOMORPHIA – March Break at Whitehern

People have been adding human faces and characteristics to inanimate objects and animals for a very long time; from 1890’s political posters, 1930’s advertising, Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and Beatrix Potter’s storybook creatures, to the latest “Shopkins” craze. Visit us at Whitehern during the March Break and try to spy for yourself, tiny “Shopkins” hidden amongst the McQuesten family’s every-day items, enjoy creating some of your own anthropomorphic crafts in The Stable, and play traditional games.

Refreshments available for purchase.
