World Premiere Buying The Farm on stage July 4 to July 21 at the Port Stanley Festival Theatre
… “A comedy about hope, last stands, skunks, and love among the chickens!” …
The Port Stanley Festival theatre is delighted to be presenting the premiere production of “Buying the Farm” by the comedy writing team of Stephen Sparks and Gemini-award winner, Shelley Hoffman, as its third offering of the 2018, 40th Anniversary, summer season. Running from July 4th, in our newly renovated Grace Auditorium, “Buying the Farm” enjoys a three-week run with a closing night July 21st.
Starring Jeff Culbert (“Midnight Madness”, “The Drawer Boy”, “Outlaw” and “Dear Johnny Deere”), Matthew Gorman (“Mending Fences”, “Mini Putt”, “Stag and Doe”, and “Having Hope at Home”), and newcomer Shannon McCracken (“Raising the Barn”, “Wicked”, and “She Loves Me”), “Buying the Farm” is directed by Artistic Director Simon Joynes, and Stage Managed by Suzanne McArthur, with Set Design by Eric Bunnell, and Lighting Design by Karen Crichton.
“Change is in the air! Magnus Bjornson has some issues. His finances are in tatters, his great niece is hiding out, his health is not what it once was, and now he has a determined Real Estate developer banging on his door. What’s a bachelor farmer supposed to do? A dance as old as time itself.”
With a varied season, which will appeal to single ticket buyers, subscribers, and tour groups alike, the Port Stanley Festival Theatre provides another season of top quality entertainment in 2018.
